Employee Counseling and Referral
Some problems brought to the EAP can be resolved without
referral to an outside resource, through the use of short-term
counseling techniques. If the clinician assesses that the
problem will take more than the remaining sessions, then
the clinician will refer the employee to available resources.
The role of the clinician then becomes more like a case
manager, helping the employee negotiate insurance coverage,
available therapists, etc. The clinician will remain in
contact with the employee to make sure that he was able
to get an appointment and is satisfied with the service.
